I'm a farmer by birth, was a soldier by choice, and a Mechanical Engineer by trade. I've lived in east Texas since Dec 97, but home is still Pennsylvania. I'm an old fashioned very laid back nice guy type that comes off a little shy at first, but I'm willing to try almost anything once. I believe true friends are very important and I'm always looking for more.
Somethings I believe: (1) truth and honesty are the most important things in any relationship. (2) your mate should be your best friend. (3) with desire and determination there are no limits, do your best and in the end that's all that can be asked, after all you either. . ."do or do not, there is no try". (4) murphy's law-it can always be worse, just be glad it isn't. (5) be open-minded, the best surprises come from the least likely sources.
Hobbies: fly fishing (yes, getting them to hold still while tying them to the hook is the hardest part =😃, hunting, camping, whitewater rafting (was a guide for about 7 years), football (Steelers Penn State), hockey (Penguins), chess (yes the engineer stereotype fits sometimes), and yes it's only fitting that if I like good food that I know my way around a kitchen (i.e. I do know how to cook/bake), etc. I also miss having a garden. I took care of the family garden from about 12 years old until I moved to Texas.
She would have to shares some of the same intrests and also be willing to introduce me to some new ones. She would be able to just hang out with, laugh with, watch a game or movie with. She would appreciate the little things in life. Most importantly she would have a personality like mine, in that she realizes life isn't all flowers and rainbows and that when things get tough she would rather work hard to push through it, because she knows that anything worthwhile takes work/effort. She'd be someone I could spend an entire evening with and never say a word, and yet it was the best conversation I ever had. Or have a long in depth conversation that doesn't end even as the sun is rising. My dream is to be sitting on a porch with my grandchildren on my lap and my wife at my side.
